Patricia S.'s Story
Life
Life has had its ups and downs. In 1993 just before Christmas I was in an auto accident. This left me in a wheelchair with an incomplete spinal cord accident. My life changed in many ways, but I learned that when life gives you lemons, its best to make lemonade. I've had the opportunity to do some motivational speaking since this time.
I'm the mother of 4 children, three sons and a daughter. They've blessed me with 13 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. One of my proudest moments as a mother came in 2004 when two of my sons were named Sailors of the Year by the US Navy. Gregg was ...Expand for more
Jr. Sailor of the Year for the USS Florida and Charles was Sr. Sailor of the Year for Information Technology at Great Lakes. Both went on to receive further recognition at the second level. Since then my daughter has joined the Navy. I have one son still in Peoria and he expects to complete his bachelors degree next year.
I enjoy gardening. After visiting a butterfly house at a botanical garden, we began planting a perennial garden around our deck. We've attracted many beautiful species and have incorporated pictures of these into our interior decorating. Now we can enjoy the garden year-round.
